Houston Zoobilee

We decided to live it up on a Friday night and go out.......to the Zoo. They had a special members only event where they closed the park and had a big party for the kids. They got to play on giant inflatables and Olivia got to pet a baby alligator and lizard. They had music and games and the kids got a prize on the way out. I think an evening trip to the zoo is in our future this summer when it's too hot during the day. It was a lot of fun and really tired the girls out! Before I forget, they a ballet company dressed up like zoo animals. Olivia has never been a fan of characters (ie Chuck E Cheese), and I couldn't believe she was so friendly with them. I guess it helped that they were wearing ballet slippers and tutus!

Dancing Olivia

At the last minute I decided to sign Olivia up for the Parks & Rec spring dance class. She is doing ballet and tap once a week. She really likes it. Much more than the first class she took last summer. Mia and I hang out in the hall during the class, but from what I can see, she is having a lot of fun. Here are a few pics from her first day. I think she was excited:)

Children's Museum with Mia

Mia and I decided to sneak off to the Children's Museum on day while Olivia was in school. This is the first time that Mia got to actually play in the Tot Spot and we didn't have to worry about maneuvering the crowded big kid areas. We both had so much fun!!! She loved the big light bright wall and playing with all of the balls. I think we'll have to do this again before school gets out.

Livestock Show and Rodeo Day 2011

It's March, which means it's time to get in the Texas spirit and head to the rodeo. Mia's a little young for that, so we headed to the livestock show instead. She loved seeing the animals, especially the little chicks hatching. Olivia got to ride the big Ferris wheel for the first time. We all had such a great time!
Before spring break started, Olivia celebrated Rodeo day at school. Mia even got into the spirit and wore her pink boots to school too. (Olivia's hat looks so silly in these pics. It really did fit!)

Happy Birthday Mia!!

Mia celebrated her first birthday February 23rd. We had a great time taking her to the Alvin Wildlife park and had a yummy lunch-Texas style at T-bone Toms. She finished off her day with some home made cupcakes.

We also had a little Cowgirl party for her at home later that week. We all had such a good time. Both sets of grandparents, Aunt Ana and Uncle Brad, and lots of friends were able to celebrate with us. We love her so much and we feel so blessed that she could be surrounded by so many others that love her too.
As sad as I am that this first year is over, I am looking forward to all that we can experience as a family. She's definitely her own person and wants to participate in everything that we do. I can't wait to see where this next year takes her. Stay tuned!

11 Months

Mia is 11 months old and boy does she know it! She is into everything these days! She took her first steps at 10 1/2 months and she has been walking more and more every day. She is playing so well with Olivia now. She still likes to put things in her mouth though. Mia still loves to eat, even though she only has two teeth. I am afraid she is going to get a bunch at one time and be miserable. Mia's absolute favorite thing right now is Olivia's lunch box. She searches the kitchen cabinets for it and loves to carry it around the house. I think she's telling me she is ready for school. We are all looking forward to her big birthday this month and can't wait to celebrate with our family and friends!

10 Months

Mia turned ten months right before Christmas. Time to start planning the birthday party! She is so big! She refuses to eat any baby food. And is standing up all the time. She likes to stand and let go and is so close to walking. Olivia loves her baby sister. She always calls her honey and sweety. She also likes to say, "Mia, your my best friend." Awww!

Falling behind

My goodness I have fallen behind on my blogging. Time to get back on track. So much has happened since I last posted. The girls had the best Christmas. Even though we missed spending the holiday with our grandparents and aunts and uncles, it was great to not have to deal with traveling. And so cute to see the girls wake up at home on Christmas morning. Mia is growing up so quickly. She really enjoyed all of her gifts, but her favorite was a drum from Olivia. She still plays with it every day! Olivia loved her new dolly house. She does PRETTY good at sharing with Mia, and makes sure that she doesn't get hold of any small pieces. Christmas day we were invited over to our neighbors home for dinner. The meal was delicious and it was nice to visit with them. Olivia's friend Adam had lots of presents to show her. His Grandma was visiting and she loved having the girls around. After Christmas, Olivia couldn't wait to celebrate New Year's (Thanks Max & Ruby). She asked for us to get her noisemakers and she stayed up until 10pm. The video is dark but you can hear how excited she is! After Mia went to bed she went outside with Luis and watched him light a few fireworks. She really loved it, now we can't wait for the 4th of July!
